Sweet and Smoky Salmon Seasoning

Makes enough to season a 2 lb salmon filet

  • 2 Tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons black pepper (for our family do 1 tsp–still has a bit of a kick, so maybe 3/4 tsp?)
  • 1 teaspoon coarse ground sea salt (I just did kosher)
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • zest of 1 lime

Combine all ingredients in a bowl, using a fork or whisk to break up any clumps from the brown sugar. Sprinkle liberally on salmon.  Use immediately.  Reserve zested lime to squeeze juice over salmon while grilling or roasting it.
